Kho Kho is sport played by teams of twelve players who try to avoid being touched by members of the opposing team,
only 9 players of the team enter the field. In Kho-Kho, one team sits or kneels in the middle of the court, in a row, with
alternate members in the row facing opposite directions. The other team may send two or three members in the court.
The motive for the sitting team is to try and “tag” the opponents. The objective is to tag all the opponents in the shortest time
possible. If the other team takes longer, the former team wins.
Kho Kho is a game played a lot in the rural parts of India. This game is popular with both men and women. This game is primarily played outdoors and Tarangini encourages its members and others from the community to participate in this game as a fun activity during it’s picnics and other community events spring thru fall. Kho Kho evokes memories of childhood in all the players and also generates interest in their children for the game for it’s similarities to “Tag” which is popular among children here.
